At this same time I only had about six months left in the position I was in as Office Manager for a multi-million dollar Government funded project, so I knew that things were about to change. I needed to look for another position within the local authority I worked for, which I wasn't too worried about, but it still didn't solve the problem of the school holidays. I just felt there had to be something better...

I picked up a copy of Office Secretary magazine that was lying around the office, and there was an article about Virtual Assistants in it! I was completely absorbed by this article and my first thought was I can do that! And you know what? That's exactly what I did!!

In November 2001 I started my practice, and by January 2002 I'd handed in my notice to my local Government employer and went straight into working for myself!

I had found my 'something better'...

I am able to put my children first
I have complete flexibility in my schedule
I have balance in my life
And I still have the challenge and satisfaction of bringing an income into the household!

And best of all, today I run a full and thriving online business management business - I even have a waiting list!
